Viewing all Holds

Modified on Sun, May 3 at 10:10 PM

Holds information for individual patrons is accessible via Circulation > Patrons by selecting the Holds link when viewing a patron's details or from the Hold tab in Circulation Desk, when the patron's details are selected and displayed.

Patrons can view their own Holds by accessing the Requests option under their Account name on the Search (OPAC) screen or via My Library > Holds in STAR.

A list of all holds is available in the management interface by navigating to Circulation > Holds.   A report can be generated by clicking the Report icon or by selecting Report from the Holds menu.

The list includes the Holds Status of each title, including Pull from Shelf and Awaiting Collection.  The number preceding each Status (e.g. 1 Pull from Shelf) indicates the number of copies.

Holds Status values and their meanings

  • Pull from Shelf indicates that a patron has requested a hold from Search (OPAC), STAR or Circulation Desk (staff-assisted) on a Title that has a status of Available.     These titles need to be retrieved from the library shelves by library staff and returned through Circulation Desk, to fulfill the patrons' hold requests.

  • Awaiting collection indicates that the item has been returned through Circulation Desk and assigned to a patron's hold request, thus fulfilling it.  When the patron's name is selected in Circulation Desk, a message will be displayed, alerting the library staff.

  • If the Status field is blank, this indicates that the item is currently checked out.   This status will change to Awaiting collection when the title is returned in Circulation Desk.

The Status field is updated during the MackinVision nightly housekeeping process.    If required, the Status can be updated by using the Run Now option in System > Housekeeping and selecting the ReservationStatusUpdateRegularProcess process.
