Summary
This guide provides an overview of the elements that determine whether copies can be established as reservable or not.
Separate guides provide the steps required to place a hold on a copy and a resource and how to place holds via the Circulation Desk and the Search interface.
In Brief
If the Reservable option is not set to Ignore on Status, Collection or RLC then a copy will be reservable if both the Status allows it AND either the RLC or Collection allows it.
Important: The exception to this is where the Status had a special value in terms of copies that can be reserved, that is, if the Status on an item is Missing/Disposed (unlikely to be reservable), or it is Available.
The ability to request items that are available is determined by the setting on Parameter No.4413 - Allow Requests on Available Items.
Reservable Options on a Status
On a Status’ Details screen, there are 3 options from which to choose. They are Yes, No and Ignore.
Reservable Options on a Collection
On a Collection’s Details screen, there are 3 options from which to choose. They are Yes, No and Ignore.
Reservable Options on a Resource Loan Category (RLC)
On an RLC’s Details screen, there is a Yes and No radio button. Note that by default the Reservable radio button is set to No and can be changed by clicking in the Yes radio button then clicking the Save button.
