Summary
A Reading List is a list of resources tied to an existing authorized List term or tied to a term that can be created. You can add a list of titles to a reading list via Authority Control or via the Manage Authorities option in Resources.
This guide will provide the steps required to add a list of titles to a new reading list using the Manage Authorities option included in the Resources Function menu. Separate guides provide the steps required to complete a search, creating a reading list, and adding titles to an existing reading list.
Create a New Reading List and Add a List of Titles via the Manage Authorities in Resources
- Navigate to Cataloging > Resources > Search.
- Complete a search for the titles you wish to add to a new reading list you will be creating.
- From the List screen hover over Function and from the menu click on Manage Authorities.

- The Manage Authorities screen will display.
- The Results field will confirm the number of Titles, for example 5, in the List screen.
- If List is not selected in the Authority List field, click on the down arrow at the end of the Authority List field and click on List.
- In the Authority Term field, enter the name of the new List, for example Dogs. You can enter the name of an existing list if applicable.
- In the Action field, ensure the radio button next to Add is activated. If it is not, click in that radio button.
- If the reading list is to be temporary enter the expiration date in the Expiration Date field or click on the Calendar button and select the date details required, for example, 20/11/2014. If the reading list is to be permanent, do not complete the Expiration Date field.

- When all the details have been completed click on the Save icon.

- The Resources > List screen will display and a message in red text will identify a new list for Dogs was created and the number of resources added to that list.

Additional titles can be added to the newly created Dogs reading list and the new reading list can be accessed by Search interface Users via the List option under Other Searches menu.
