How to Apply Formats for a Collection Immediately

This guide explains how to enable the Catalog Format Housekeeping process so that changes to collection Formats are applied immediately.

Overview 

Changing the settings for Interest Level or Overwrite Interest Level for a collection does not take effect immediately. Two Housekeeping processes need to be run to calculate which copies and resources need to be updated with the new value for Interest Level.

You can either set Housekeeping options to run these processes during the next overnight Housekeeping or you can perform the Housekeeping processes manually if you require an immediate result.

How to Update Interest Levels for a Collection Immediately

1. Navigate to System > Housekeeping
2. Make sure that the Housekeeping Process Catalog Format is checked
3. If the Housekeeping process is not checked, click the Edit icon then scroll down to find the entry, check the checkbox, and click the Save icon
4. Navigate to Management > Parameters.
5. Edit Parameter 1261 – disablePerfomanceIntensiveProcessesForRunNow = No. Note: If this parameter is left at the default value of ‘Yes’, the Housekeeping option will not be available for selection at the next step.
6. Navigate to System > Housekeeping. Click the Edit icon
7. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and locate the Run Now field.   
8. Select the option CatalogFormatRegularProcess from the drop-down list.
9. Click the Save icon . The Housekeeping process CatalogFormatRegularProcess will be run within the next few minutes.
